A snapshot of the new and improved features for Scooch v1.0:
- Richly functional Scooch homepage: The new application index includes slide show summaries or thumbnails displayed by date, title or rating. Also includes a tags list or tag cloud (your choice) and Scooch bookmarks from around the web you can add and remove.
- Live search: Goggles live search, our new rapid search plug-in is included free. Search Scooch shows live with a word or phrase and watch the list display.
- Rel-tags: Slide show tagging with rel-tag Microformat aggregated on the index in a tag list or a cloud.
- Comments: Enable comments if you wish with emoticons and a comments RSS feed.
- Multiple RSS feeds: Scooch now gives you subscription feeds for all new slide shows published (just like a blog), individual slide shows (for new slide notifications) and slide show comments.
- Ratings: Allow users to rate your slide shows using hReview Microformat.
- Customised slide shows: Display a minimalist version or a full fat version with the date, description and author displayed on the page (it is used in the meta tags regardless) and enable slide ratings, comments, emoticons - all optional when you create a slide show.
- Customised everything: The new admin user settings allow you so much flexibility it would be hard to list here. See the new Scooch Manual user settings page for details.
- Multiple image formats: Scooch now accepts JPG's, PNG's, GIF's and produces superb resolution thumbnails from all of them.
- Even simpler admin: An integrated admin menu on the homepage allows you access to all the features including the ability to add a new show, edit a show, delete comments, delete a show, re-issue all shows (useful if you change the template), manage your bookmarks and admin user settings.
- Easy editing and recycling for any site: Scooch is built for you to edit, re-use and recycle. We've included a detailed manual to help you. Install it and plug simple data ojects in to your existing homepage to display your slide shows. Easy-peasy!
Scooch has been manually checked again against the WCAG and the ATAG from the W3C. That means it complies with international policies and legislation around accessibility including the UK DDA 2005
No Browser Plug-ins, No Flash, No Database
Scooch still doesn't need browser plug-ins or a database to deliver all this goodness. It's accessible to use and to administer and installation is a breeze. All you need to do is insert your own web site URI, upload, CHMOD the directories and it just works.
Free for Non Commercial Use
That's right compadres, Scooch is free for personal and charitable / educational use. For a commercial license here is a small fee of £25 but we throw in installation support for that too.
